So week 1 is done and dusted - not without some help from the little bits and our 4 legged friend.
I gave in to the hype and bought myself a fitbit... second hand I will add, as my hard earned cash isn't for that disgustingly hideous "exercise" malarkey - but its really quite interesting to learn how many steps you really do in a day!
Not to mention the competition against friends...... and even if I hated it and never used it for its true purpose, its blinking wonderful to have a watch again!! :)
I like that it reminds you to move as well, and the silent morning alarm is really good!
I went to two exercise classes (my third one was cancelled - get well soon Fi!) Boogie Bounce on Monday - love love love it, who doesnt love mini trampolines and you dont feel like you are exercising, just laughing yourself daft, and back to Pound on Wednesday - love this one again getting to drum out your frustration :)
We hired the private pool for today - it means I dont have to shave my legs, trim any other areas, or worry how flabby I look in a swimming costume. Bonus! And the kids are really improving their swimming.
And I completed week 1 of the NHS One You Couch to 5k podcast - even coming home from work shattered and heading out for a run with little bit, and even middle bit has started coming with us on run 2 and 3. Four legged bit is always up for a walk or run, although hes snoring on the sofa next to me as I type. .
So what does week 2 hold - boogie bounce tomorrow, Pound isn't on this week, so going to go to aqua fit and try that instead, and Clubbercise on Friday. 3 runs for Week 2, and its the school holidays, so will try to fit some extra bits in. Swimming pool is booked again next Sunday... weigh in on Thursday. Fingers crossed!!
See you on the other side!
Fighting flab and getting fit in the real world of 2.4 children, full time jobs and a dog

The beginning
During my studies recently I came across some research saying that making a change to poor lifestyle at mid life can have as much benefit as having always been fit and healthy.
So here I sat at 35, BMI over 30, zero fitness whatsoever, dreading social events and trying to find something to wear, trying every miracle diet advertised and slowly learning that 'shapewear' just means it spreads the fat elsewhere!
January I joined Slimming World, and at present have lost 1stone 3lb, with still a fair way to go.
Its hard work, as I really love food. And big bit has a disgraceful habit for cream cakes, and bad foods, so trying to resist every single second of my life is far too much willpower for a 'normal' person, especially after a long day at work, coming home late and living behind the best chip shop in the local area.
So... if after 35 years I cannot control the hold that food has over me, I decided I would have to do something different for a change - my most hated pastime - exercise.
I'm a sweaty person, I get disgustingly sweaty just doing my job, redfaced, puffing and dripping - so imagine it 100 times worse doing exercise. Ick.
But something has to change. I have seen far too many young people practically crippled because of obesity and chronic illness and desperately dont want to end up that way, so change it has to be.
Exercise classes are daunting. Anything you see in lycra is the truth, it doesnt hide anything, but all the gym bunnies and fitness beauties are tiny beautifully shaped people, and its terrifying revealing your true lumps and bumps to those who dont have them - but tough! I'm a veteran of two labours, it never went back to its bouncy taut self, and we are all different.
So welcome along - maybe you will keep me going, maybe we will learn new things. Maybe I will actually enjoy myself!
Later!
